Jameson, Dennis G. Age 81 of Baraboo
Dennis was born October 6, 1943, in Adams, Wisconsin to Percy and Jean (Cunat) Jameson. He married his high school sweetheart, Patty Ashworth on January 22, 1966 in Adams, Wisconsin. They were true partners in every sense of the word. Their life together was filled with adventure, jokes, family, and friends. Their family is their true legacy.
Dennis graduated from UW-Stevens Point in June of 1966 and started his 40-year career with the Wisconsin DNR that same day. After a storied career he retired as a Supervisor Conservation Warden. While there were many notable moments in his career, he would tell you his proudest moment was hiring the first female conservation law enforcement officer in the state of Wisconsin. His passion for wildlife and the environment carried through the rest of his life.
He enjoyed a long retirement where he remained active in the community and built the life he always dreamed of, where he was surrounded by his family and able to pass along his love for the great outdoors to the next generations.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Virgil Jameson, sister Audrey Kosobud, brother-in-law Leonard Kosobud, and Nephew James Jameson.
He was a proud father to Jill (Rich Sefkar) Showalter and Jana (Michael) Ketelsleger. “Grandpa Denny” loved nothing more than being with his grandchildren: Zak (Annie) Showalter, Jake (MacKenzy) Showalter, Megan Plan, and great-grandchildren: Charlie Bickerstaff, Grayson Bickerstaff, Emma Fuller, and Hallie Showalter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff at the UW Health Neuromuscular Disorders Clinic, Aveanna Home Health, and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care of Dennis as he progressed through his journey with ALS.
Per his wishes, the family will have a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dennis’ name to the ALS Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin.
