A large part of Edna’s life was Bethany Lutheran Church in New Lisbon. Throughout almost 70 years of membership, she filed a variety of roles including Sunday School teacher, alter guild member, women’s group leader, funeral meal server, and a quilter. The church also served as the starting place from which lifelong friendships developed. Most notable was a 500-card club that lasted for many decades.
Edna was known for her prowess as a baker, especially around Christmas time. Everyone had their favorites, and the cutout Christmas cookies were enjoyed by all. Whenever there were little ones in the family, they got the special little puppy cutouts. Family, Church, and community members all benefited from these talents.
She also truly enjoyed attending sporting events for her family members. If it happened to be a basketball game she was watching, you could guarantee that she had a sheet of paper out, keeping track of how many points each player scored. She finally stopped attending away games in her early 80s, but still attended home games most of the time.
The family would like to thank the staff at Crestview, both at the assisted living and the nursing home facilities, for their care of Edna, A special thanks goes out to Jennifer Brandau, who was a constant source of comfort for Edna throughout her time there.
