New Lisbon’s Mill Haven T&F Invite Top Rocket Finishers

The New Lisbon Track and Field team competed Saturday alongside 13 other area teams on their home track for the Mill Haven Invite.  They boys team finished 2nd and the girls team finished 8th.  Placing in the top three for the girls were:

Alivia Bailey with a third place in the 400 meter dash

The 4 x 400 team of Eliza Curtis, Claire Haske, Heidi Mathes, and Alivia Bailey also finished in  3rd place

On the boy’s side:

Jameson Barker with a first in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles

Blake Smith with a second place in the discus and shot

The 4 x 200 team of Jake Cox, Braden Miller, Jameson Barker, and Brandon Voss with a third place finish

Next up for the Rockets is the Lee Griffin Invitational at Kickapoo High School Tuesday.

New Lisbon Opens Up Outdoor Track Season with Success

The New Lisbon Track and Field team competed last night at the first outdoor meet of the year.  It was great to finally be outside again and the team responded with some great performances.  Finishing in the top 3 for the boys were:

Jameson Barker with a first place in both the 110 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles

The 4 x 200 team of Jude Keltner, Jamesen Pfaff, Jameson Barker, and Brandon Voss with a 1st place

Reedsburg Softball Downs Royall in Good Friday Showdown

The Royall Panthers Girls Softball team fell to Reedsburg 16-6 in 6 innings Friday evening.  Royall jumped ahead 4-3 after 2innings thanks in part from a 2 run single by Elizabeth Klipstein.  Reedsburg took control of the game in the third inning scoring 6 runs to pull ahead for good.  Kylie and Kayla Rick combined to go 1×3 with 2RBI’s for the Panthers in the loss.  Meagan Raupp went 2×3 with 2 RBI’s as did Elizabeth Haag for the Beavers.  Summer Haag picked up the victory inside the circle for the Beavers giving up 5 earned runs in 6 innings of work striking out 3 batters while walking just 2.  Ashleigh Klipstein took the loss inside the circle for Royall.   

Hillsboro Clobbers Mauston in Softball Action

The Hillsboro Tigers eased passed Mauston 19-0 Thursday night in High School Softball non-conference action.  Hillsboro got a lot of runs but also a strong defensive effort.  Jaelyn Bloor pitched 5 shutout innings giving up just 2hits walking none and striking out 13.  Peyton Sullivan led the way offensively going 3×4 with a 2run homerun.  Elizabeth Cairns went 3×3 at the plate for the Tigers while Michelle Hora went 2×3 with a triple.  Kylie and Brie Heller each had a double for the Golden Eagles accounting for Maustons 2 hits.  Mauston drops to 0-1, while Hillsboro improves to 2-0 on their season. 

New Lisbon Track & Field Completes Indoor Season

The New Lisbon Track and Field Team competed Saturday at the Cashton Indoor Invitational at UW La Crosse alongside 26 other schools.  The Boys team finished in 8th place led by:

The girls 4 x 800 relay team of Sophia Wolf, Alivia Bailey, Greenlee Heimer, and Klarissa Earhart also placed 5th earning points for the girls team.

 

This wraps up our indoor season and we are excited to turn our attention now to the outdoor meets.

 

Hillsboro Opens Softball Season With Walk Off Victory over Viroqua

The Hillsboro Tigers softball team opened their season up with a walk off victory over Viroqua 4-3 Tuesday evening.  Viroqua grabbed and early 1-0 lead on an RBI triple by Kate Quackenbush but the Tigers tied the game up in the third as Alaina Clark scored on a wild pitch and took the lead in the 4th on a RBI groundout by Hayden Bohn.  Quackenbush would again give Viroqua the lead in the 5th on a 2 run single giving Viroqua a 3-2 lead.  Hillsboro fought back in the 7th as Bohn delivered a 2 out RBI single to tie the game at 3.  The game went to extra innings.  Hillsboro worked a scoreless defensive 8th inning and then went to work offensively.  Michelyn Hanson led the inning off with a double that was followed by a Peyton Sullivan walk off single to right field giving Hillsboro the victory.  Jaelyn Bloor pitched well in the circle going all 8 innings giving up just 1 earned run while walking just 2 and striking out 9.  Hillsboro starts their year 1-0 on the season.  Viroqua drops to 0-1.

Royall Rallies By Hillsboro Clinches at Least Share of 1st SBC Championship in 11 Years

The Royall Panther boys’ basketball team had a memorable senior night on Monday.  Royall rallied from an early 12-2 deficit to defeat Hillsboro 68-47.  Hillsboro led much of the first half and had a 30-29 lead in the closing minute of the opening half, before Tyrus Wildes got a steal and a lay in to put Royall up 31-30 going into break.  Tyrus Wildes had a big game finishing with 17points including 5 three point buckets.  Royall was able to pull away thanks to hot shooting from beyond the arc in the 2nd half. Royall knocked down 11 three pointers as a team in the game.  It wasn’t all from the outside for the Panthers as Landon Lipke scored 15points mainly in the low post.  Savon Wainwright notched 13 points for the Panthers and Jacob Ciezyk had 10. The rest of the drama came after the game as fans and players brought out their devices to watch the end of the Bangor/Cashton game.  A Bangor win would give Royall at least a share of the SBC title.  Bangor came through with the upset 68-66 clinching Royall at least a share of the Conference Championship for the first time in 11 years.  Royall can now claim the conference themselves with a win over Bangor Thursday. 

Panthers Stay Pace With Cashton By Downing Bangor

The Royall Panthers made free throws down the stretch to pull away from Bangor 55-45 Thursday night in a Scenic Bluffs Conference Boys Basketball game.  The game was back and forth in the first half with Bangor building a 17-13 lead but Royall used a 17-2 run before halftime to build a 30-19 leads into halftime.  Bangor fought back in the 2nd half to pull within 3points but Royall fended them off by knocking down 10-12 free throws down the stretch.  Royall was led by Tyrus Wildes who finished with 20points while Carter Uppena added 17points.  Royall improves to 20-2 on their season and 11-1 in Conference action.  Bangor was led by Chase Horstman who finished with a team high 14points. Bangor falls to 11-9 and 9-3 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.  Royall will host Hillsboro on Monday a game that can be heard on NOW92oneFM and WRJC.com

Gruen Pull’s Down 1,000th Rebound in Panther Victory over Cashton

The Royall Panthers Girls basketball used a big 2nd half to push past Cashton 65-47 Tuesday night.  Cashton led 32-30 at halftime but Royall outscored them by 20 in the 2nd half.  Marah Gruen led the Panthers with 29points and is now 7 points away from the school’s all-time scoring record. She also pulled down her 1,000th career rebound.  Bria Gruen and Kasey Jones each added 14points for the 7th ranked Panthers.  Royall finishes its regular season 22-2 and 12-2 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.  Cashton was led by Taylor Lindley-Schendel who had 17points.  Cashton drops to 18-6 and 9-5 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.
