Hillsboro Girls Ride Hot First Half to Victory Over La Farge
The Hillsboro Tigers girls’ basketball team jumped out to a big lead and then held on to defeat La Farge 44-31 Monday night. The Tigers got off to a fast start building a 26-8 halftime lead. The hot start was spearheaded by Junior Carmen Erickson who finished with a game high 20points. La Farge made a run to get within 9 in the 2nd half but a big 3 pointer but Kristianna Hardy ended the Wildcats momentum. Hardy finished with 14points for Hillsboro. The Tigers improve to 3-8 on the season and will challenge Necedah Thursday night.
Pirates Sink Hillsboro at Just-A-Game Fieldhouse
The Hillsboro Tigers fell 54-45 to the De Soto Pirates in a non-conference boys basketball game played Saturday at Just-A-Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. Hillsboro got off to a tough start trailing 28-21 at halftime but led by Isaiah Stokes the Tigers rallied in the 2nd half to cut the lead down to 1 but could never get over the hump falling by 9 points to the Pirates. Isiah Stokes led the Tigers with 24points. De Soto got a team high 15 points from Cole Wheling, while Landon Padretti scored 13. De Soto improves to 4-2 on the season. Hillsboro drops to 3-3 and will host Bangor Tuesday night, a game that can be heard on NOW92oneFM and wrjc.com.
Royall Stifles New Lisbon in SBC Boys Basketball Action
The Royall Panther Basketball team used a strong defensive effort to blow by New Lisbon 71-24 Thursday night. The Panthers limited New Lisbon to just 8 first half points building a 33-8 lead at the break. The Panthers busted out their offense in the 2nd half to go along with strong defense to complete the route. Royall was led by Carter Uppena who finished with a game high 19points while Tyrus Wildes added 14 and Jacob Ciezyk chipped in with 13. The win improves Royall to 1-1 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference and 6-1 overall. New Lisbon drops to 0-2 and 0-6 overall on their season.
Royall Slips By Mauston as Massey Closes in On Scoring Record
The Royall Boys Basketball team was able to fend off the Mauston Golden Eagles 59-56 in an all Juneau County showdown. Mauston had early leads they could not hold and then faced a 9 point deficit late in the game. Two big three point buckets by Jasper Walsh cut the Royall lead to 3 but that is as close as Mauston would get. Mauston was led by Brock Massey who finished with a game high 28 points. Massey is now 18 points away from tying the Mauston Boys all-time points record held by Tarren Hall and 21 points away from tying Andrea Thomas’s school record for points in a career. Royall was led by Carter Uppena who finished with a team high 17points, Ben Crneckiy added 9points for the Panthers who improve to 5-1 on their season and will travel to New Lisbon on Thursday. Late Run Pushes North Crawford over Hillsboro
The Hillsboro Tigers boys’ basketball team lost to a good North Crawford team 74-59 Monday night. The teams played back and forth for the first 30minutes of the game before the Trojans went on a run and stayed ahead for good. North Crawford got a good game from Andrew Munson who finished with a game high 23 points but the biggest lift might have been from Derek Smith who came off the bench to score 21points. North Crawford is now 6-0 on their season. Hillsboro was led by Isiah Stokes with 19points Talen Hildreth added 17 for the Tigers who drop to 2-2 on the season. Hillsboro will travel to Wonewoc-Center Thursday evening.
New Lisbon Falls to La Farge Royall Takes Down Kickapoo in Boys BB
The New Lisbon Rockets were upended by La Farge 50-42 Monday night in a non-conference boys basketball game. It was a game of runs in a back in forth game but La Farge made the final run and pulled away for the victory. Hayden Fowell had a game high 21points to lead La Farge while teammate Zach Hanson chipped in with 11. The Rockets were led by Evan Macrafic who had a team high 13points while Austin Bernsden added 10. The Rockets fall to 0-4 on the season and will travel to Hillsboro on Friday.

Massey’s Return Powers Mauston by Necedah in Boys Basketball
The Mauston Golden Eagles Boys Basketball team returned Brock Massey to their lineup Tuesday night and took off as a team blowing by Necedah 66-26. Massey finished with a game high 33 points including 19 second half points. Necedah took an early 6-2 lead of a pair of tough 3 pointers by Jack Herried who finished with a team high 12points for the Cardinals. Mauston would use their size and athleticism to grab a lead they would never relinquish. Keenan Smith and Cody Komisky each had 9points for the Golden Eagles to compliment Massey. Mauston improves to 1-1 on the year and will travel to Sparta on Friday. Necedah will host Weston Thursday night and drops to 0-1 on the season.
Royall Girls Crush Black River Falls Stay Undefeated
The Royall Panther’s girls basketball team has roared its way out to a 4-0 start after hammering Black River Falls 68-33 Tuesday night in Black River Falls. Marah Gruen led the Panthers with 21 points while Kasey Jones added 16, and Bria Gruen added 13. Freshman Kayla Rick also had a strong night hitting a pair of three point buckets and scoring a career high 8points. Royall has a week off before they host Ithaca next Tuesday.
