Mauston Dominates South Central Conference Wrestling Tournament

The Mauston Golden Eagles wrestling team claimed 8 conference champions on its home mats Friday night in the 2025 South Central Conference wrestling tournament. Mauston cruised to the conference tournament championship although Nekoosa won the regular season and overall conference championship due to its head to head dual victory last Monday over the Golden Eagles. Conference champions for Mauston included:

The Mauston Lady Golden Eagles hit the freeway to Lacrosse Logan High School where they took care of business by a score of 49-29 Thursday night.
The girls shared the rock quite nicely as Caitlin Lavold and Kiley Heller tied for leading scorers putting up 14 points each, Bre Heller and Ellie Pouille each had 8 points on the night.
Kylie Heller added 9 rebounds, 3 blocked shots, 1 assist and 1 steal to her stat column, Lavold came home with 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals, Pouille chipped in an assist and a steal of her own while Bre Heller blocked 1 shot, had 3 assists and stole the ball 7 times before calling it a night and heading on home.
Next up for the Lady Eagles is a conference game against the Green Devils Tuesday night February 11th at Adams-Friendship.
Second Half Surge Lifts Hillsboro by Bangor in SBC Boys Basketball

The Hillsboro Tigers boys basketball used a strong 2nd half to pull away from Bangor 75-60 Thursday night in a Scenic Bluffs Boys Basketball matchup. Hillsboro went on a 16-3 run early in the 2nd half to turn a 35-32 deficit into a 48-38 lead and never looked back. Hillsboro used a strong game from David Johnson who had a career high 16points. Jerry Von Falkenstein and Miles Ravenscroft each had 18points to lead the Tigers in scoring. Hayden Massman had a game high 21points for the Cardinals. With the win Hillsboro improves to 14-3 and 9-1 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference. Bangor drops to 7-3 and 7-11 overall.

On the night Mauston dedicated to their 3 Seniors Kylie Heller, Mallory Kastner and Sam Zenthoefer the ladies came out sluggish in the first half and went into the locker room only up by 4 points with a score of 17-13 at the half over Nekoosa. They bounced back to come away with a 53-34 win over the Nekoosa Papermakers.
Kylie Heller led all scorers with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 5 blocked shots and 2 steals, while Bre Heller had 9 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals and 6 assists followed closely by
Caitlin Lavold who had 8 points and 4 each in the rebounds, steals and assists columns.
They hit the road again Thursday night as they travel to Lacrosse Logan for a non-conference game.
NL Rockets Win 4th in a Row in Girls Basketball

The New Lisbon Rockets girls basketball team slugged out a 43-31 victory over Wonewoc-Center Tuesday night in a Scenic Bluffs Conference girls basketball game. Freshman Keira Wilkinson got New Lisbon off to a quick start and led them in scoring with a dozen points. Senior Abby Steele also had 12 for New Lisbon and went on a personal 6-0 run after Wonewoc-Center had cut a 14 point lead down to 7. The Wolves struggled offensively but were led by Senior Brooklyn Boltons 10points. New Lisbon improves to 9-9 overall and 6-4 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference, it was the 4th straight win for New Lisbon. Wonewoc-Center drops to 2-13 and 1-9 in the conference.
